
There’s no question that the MBTA is in trouble.
The Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) is facing a $161 million deficit in the coming year and the current funding system is broken. To close the gap, the MBTA is proposing massive service cuts and fare hikes — measures that would fall disproportionately on those who can afford it least — students, immigrants, seniors, low-income workers and the disabled.
